FAQs

Grants

  • New England residents over the age of 21 or New England-based production companies producing performance-style events.

A “performance-style” event means that some portion of the event is performance-based - dance, cabaret, burlesque, theater, community nightclub events, puppet shows, performance art, etc. These grants are not meant for visual or graphic artists.

Typically, the Audeville Society looks to fund projects which are of a ‘fringe’ nature or relatively low-budget. We will not be providing grants to well-established theater companies with large budgets. We also prefer to support groups and individuals who have unique perspectives, who want to produce an out-of-the-box idea, or who feature individuals and stories of a minority or underrepresented group.

  • Our Artists’ Grants page has an application at the bottom - as well as a ton of information about past recipients and criteria for application.

Currently, as we are still working on filling our coffers, we are not accepting applications.

  • Because we need specific information about the upcoming production in order to make an educated decision, we ask that only the producer of the event applies.

If you know of a worthy individual or group, you should reach out to them directly and suggest that they apply.

  • Our grants are determined individually - but most grants awarded will be between $5,000 and $10,000. Smaller grants can be awarded if needed - and larger grants can be asked for, but we might offer less than the request.

  • Unlike standard grants, ours do not work on a cyclical nature. Instead, grants are awarded on an as-needed basis. This is due to the fact that many productions do not take a full year to produce and therefore timing a grant application with your schedule would be nearly impossible for most people.

  • Given how new our organization is, we can only accommodate one or two grants per year. As our ‘society’ grows and we begin raising more money, this number will grow and we will give away as many grants as we possibly can. There will be no "limit" set on the number of grants we will distribute.

  • If you have been awarded a grant in the past, you may apply for another grant. However, because we would like to help as many individuals as possible, the likelihood of receiving a grant decreases with each grant awarded.

  • Our grants fund is filled through two means - donations and fundraising.

Our Sponsors page will feature a list of companies and individuals who have kindly donated money to our organization.

Ticket sales from events which we produce ourselves (featured on our Events page) go into our grants fund - so when you attend one of our events, you are donating to the cause!

Donations

  • In the near future, our website will have a large “Donate” button in the menu bar which you will be able to click to be directed to our donation page.

Keep an eye out for that!

  • Sponsors are folks or businesses who donate funds in the amount of $2,500 or higher and request being featured on our website as a sponsor. Anonymous donors will not be featured as “sponsors.”

Sponsorship lasts for one calendar year from the date of donation. Some sponsors choose to make their gifts annual and will be featured as such!

  • Once our organization receives its 501c3 status from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, eligible donations to our organization will be considered tax-deductible. If you wish to have a letter of acknowledgement from us, with our EIN and other necessary information, simply reach out to us with the name on your donation and the date you made it and we will send that off to you.

Events

  • Our Events page features events produced by us and by our grantees.

Any event produced by a grantee will be labelled as such - any event not labelled is one of ours!

  • We produce events as a means of fundraising for our grants fund. Ticket sales from our events go to help fill our fund, so every event you attend helps our community grow!

We also like to feature grantees at our events whenever possible as a form of “exposure.” We will occasionally have speeches, performances, etc.

  • Because we use different venues for our events - and because our grantees do the same - it is difficult to guarantee how ADA compliant our events will be.

However, when choosing a space to hold an event, we do everything we can to ensure that a venue has ADA accessibility. There is also a question on our grant application which asks the same of our potential grantees.

If you are interested in attending an event and are unsure if you will be able to attend for reasons of ADA compliance, please feel free to reach out to us, the venue, or the event producer! We are happy to help.

  • Each event, whether produced by us or a grantee, will have a separate site with information on ticket purchasing. Please visit the Events page for links to all of these sites.

Miscellaneous

  • Currently, we are still just a small group and are not looking to bring on any new staff.
